Disney Audition Tip #1 - Arrive On Time

Want to make a good first impression?

Then remember that your audition really begins before you even arrive! It’s critically important that you allow ample preparation and travel time for your audition, and that you arrive on time. BTW, arriving on time means arriving early!

I just can’t stress enough how important it is that you arrive on-time for your audition. This means at least 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time. Being late, no matter the reason, can negatively affect your audition, or prevent you from being seen altogether.

Tip #1 worth repeating…. Arrive On Time!

Disney Audition Tip #2 - The Headshot and Resume

No matter what Disney role you’re auditioning for, it’s important that you have a resume and headshot available for the casting director. In general, the headshot should be presented on standard letter size paper and it should be representative of the way you look now.

It’s okay to change your appearance periodically. If you do however, be sure to update your headshot so that it is congruent with your current look.

Now here’s the important thing..

When choosing your photo, remember that your headshot is considered to be the calling card you leave behind to help the Disney Casting department to remember you. You only get one shot, so make sure that your photograph is the best possible representation of who you are.

As for the resume, keep it on one page and list your most recent experience and accomplishments first. Attach your headshot to your resume securely and you’re ready for that audition!

High School Musical Auditions for Sharpay

Q. Thanks for all the great information! I have a question and I’m hoping you can help me out…I’m trying out for High School Musical at my school. The problem is that they haven’t given us any singing audition material - just the script. I was wondering if you knew what the vocal requirements for the role of Sharpay is. I have a comfortable singing range from Mezzo-Soprano to Alto, and my preferred range is alto. Can you tell me the vocal selections and vocal range for Sharpay?

A. Thanks for a terrific question!  Sharpay sings 4 selections (What I’ve Been Looking For, Stick To The Status Quo, Bop To The Top, and I Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You) in the stage production bill. Your vocal range should easily cover everything she does.

Best of luck!!
