Demi’s Hip Magically Re-Appears On W Korea

demi_w_sidebyside_e.jpgdemi_hip_cu_korea_e.jpg

What will Demi Moore say about this!?

On the heels of firing off a letter to Anthony Citrano, asking the photographer to not only apologize, but retract statements he made about the actress’ US cover (left) of W Magazine, the Korean version (right) of the mag has just hit the shelves.

And guess what??? Her hip has magically found its way back onto her body!

After seeing the newly edited cover, Anthony had this to say to everyone (especially Team Moore):

Right when you thought (hoped) this whole thing was over, something comes along that, as the Jerky Boys would say, puts a whole different paint job on things. I was back in Maine for Christmas (and of course, holding my breath for an apology and retraction from Demi Moore and her legal team), just hanging out with my Mom and her cat – and in came a cameraphone tip from halfway ’round the world. [Thanks, Joe!]

The January 2010 issue of W Korea just hit the newsstands (with the ironic subtitle “Women in Full”). Unsurprisingly, they decided to use the excellent Mert & Marcus shot of Demi Moore. But very surprisingly, they installed a new hip on Demi. So: even W’s sister publication thought the image looked weird enough to fix.

This raises a few serious questions for Martin Singer, his client, and W: did W’s Korean team add in a fake hip because they just kinda thought it looked awkward? (Y’know, like I did, before you attacked, discredited, and threatened to sue me?) Or did they merely reveal a hip that was already there, but that Singer, et alia litigiously denied had been accidentally obliterated?

If it’s the former: are Singer, Moore et alia now going to pursue legal action against W Korea? By retouching the image’s supposedly “genuine representation” of her “absolutely not retouched” hip, did W Korea imply the same things Singer claims I did (but which, of course, I didn’t)?

If it’s the latter: who was aware of this? If Mr. Singer and Ms. Moore were aware, this raises some rather serious legal questions. Regardless of it being the dumbest argument ever, some very serious core principles are in play.

Anyway, to my eyes, the W Korea image looks great – it’s a beautiful cover, and anatomically correct! If I’d seen this image in W’s December advance, I never would have said a thing – except, perhaps, “nice work!” (And, had I not been threatened with a lawsuit, I surely would never have noticed the deformed thumb.)

My attempts to secure comment from the W Korea editorial team were unsuccessful.

We’re still on Team Citrano!

If it wasn’t retouched to begin with, why would they go back and change it???

A word to W Magazine: NOW would be the time to end your silence and settle this once and for all!

Retail Sales Are Looking Up!

mall.jpg

Slow and steady wins the race, it seems.

We’re happy to bring you good news about the retail market during this holiday season. It seems retailers have fared well during the holiday season, and are looking forward to what they hope will be a prosperous 2010.

Of course, the news isn’t overwhelmingly good - it’s not as though retailers are rolling in it, but still, the general mood is optimistic and reflects the slow and steady recovery of the economy.

For instance, Bloomingdales CEO Michael Gould said that on Christmas Eve:

“We went home with big smiles on our faces. We feel good about the business and the quality of the business we ran. Last year in December we were drastically reducing inventory to get ourselves in a better position for spring. This year, we had a very good flow of reciepts all season long. We will continue to bring in the newness unabated. With new receipts coming in, we have a good opportunity to keep the momentum going.”

Similary, Pete Nordstrom, president of merchandising at Nordstrom said, “There is certainly a more positive feeling and the sense that we’re back to a normal rhythm.”

While the official returns won’t be in until January 7th, as of right now we know that total retail sales my cash, check, or credit card are up 2.3% since Black Friday. Men’s apparel grew 3.9%, shoe sales went up 5% and electronics increased by 5.9%. Not bad!

Gives us confidence that we’re back on the road to a strong economy.

Things are looking up!

Happy Holidays indeed!

Cute couple Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone traded the New York snow in for some St Barths sand while on vacation in France over the Christmas holiday.

We always love an excuse to look at pictures of Marc and his super buff bod, especially shirtless!

And how cute are they with their matching Louis Vuitton towels???

Love!

Rihanna Will Ring In The New Year Covered Up

rihanna.jpg

It looks like 2010 will be a more conservative year for Rihanna - well, at least the first night of it.

According to sources, the songstress has been scheduled to perform in Abu Dhabi on New Year’s Eve, a gig that will earn her reportedly $500,000.

Not a bad way to start off the new year!

Of course, for that kind of paycheck, the Barbadian singer is pretty much at the behest of her Abu Dhabian bosses. And they’re not taking that power lightly - officials have warned Rihanna to dress more modestly for her Emirates Palace gig.

A source says:

“The dress code in Abu Dhabi does not encourage excessively revealing outfits - but it’s no secret that RiRi is the, ‘if you’ve got it, flaunt it,’ type of girl…. She wanted to put on her most eccentric and provocative show yet. She knows that she’ll have to compromise her style to fit in with local traditions - but a huge part of her show is her sexy stage gear…. Organizers are getting hot under the collar about possible wardrobe choices, but they trust it will be handled tastefully.”

It’s not just the clothing that might need a little tweaking, though:

“Apparently Rihanna always likes to have some bottles of vodka in her hotel room, but she may need to obtain a license if she is to store the alcohol in her dressing room during the gig.”

We have a hard time feeling sorry for her - yes, it might not be the most wild way to bring in the new year, but she can wipe her tears with hundred dollar bills after making so much money in one gig.

We bet she’ll have plenty of sexy fun later on in the year!

Photographer Asked To Apologize To Demi Over Missing Hip!

demi_hip_w_e__opt.jpg

While the year is coming to a close, Demi Moore’s hip-gate continues!

We previously mentioned that photographer Anthony Citrano challenged Mrs. Kutcher to prove to him that her now infamous W cover was in fact not retouched.

If Demi was able to prove to him that she is a flawless grandma, he would donate $5,000 to a charity of her choice.

Not bad right, considering we all know the truth anyway!

However, Moore’s legal team thinks otherwise because this whole retouching thing is about to get nasty!

Demi’s lawyer Marty Singer has fired off a letter to Citrano requesting him to retract his statements that suggested the actress’ cover was altered in any way saying:

“As you are undoubtedly well aware, my client’s appearance is of great importance to her career and livelihood, and false claims or insinuations that she secretly uses extraordinarily artificial means to alter her appearance are extremely damaging.”

Riiight.

Anthony has already responded to the request and is sticking to his guns. The photog confirms “neither of these (retraction and apology) will be forthcoming.”

Good for him! Team Citrano all the way!

But seriously can W say something already and put this whole thing to rest!? Please!
