is reality tv the new goldmine?

Look at the newest reality TV stars these days. These days, you don't have to have a ton
of acting lessons to make the big bucks! I don't have to remind you about Jersey Shore,
or The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The sheer amount of money these people
are making for being on a Reality TV Show! With that being said, maybe getting onto
MTV, or starring on your own reality TV series would be the route you want to take with
your acting career.

So, how do you get your own Reality TV Show? Start with auditioning for some of the
smaller TV shows that are out there. In all of acting, whether it is for a huge mainstream
company, a commercial casting call or audition, Disney, or blind date, most casting calls
have the same general rules.

Rule #1: You never know who's going to be the director on the next big project. What
do I mean by this? You may go into an audition for a reality TV casting call, and meet
the make up artist. On the next audition you go on, the make up artist you met at that
last casting call could be the director of a feature film. You just never know. These
first impressions can be very important! So, be nice to everyone, make friends, and be
yourself!

Rule #2: Be yourself, and don't force outrageousness. If you are naturally outrageous,
then, fantastic! But, don't try to force it and be something you are not. This is
especially true for reality TV. Of course, they want things to get a bit out of hand. Let's
face it, that makes fantastic Reality TV! But, don't force it, and don't be fake. Most
directors will see right through that. And impressions are everything in the casting calls
business of Hollywood! (refer to rule #1).

Rule #3: Be helpful. Always go above and beyond the call of duty on any casting call
or film set you are on. Don't be so helpful that you are in the way, just be very attentive
on listening. It's really important to understand what the director is asking of you. By
listening, you are being extremely helpful on any set. Being aware and focused saves
them time, which saves them money. And trust me, any person conducting auditions
loves to save money!

Rule #4: Be early! Even though you may end up waiting around a bit, that's okay!
You get the chance to meet other people in the waiting room. However, you don't want
to show up 3 hours early for your reality TV casting call! Be about a half an hour early,
no more than that. Again, time is money, so, if the casting director is waiting for you,
you've already blown that audition.

So, these are four simple rules you can use during your next audition,, and these are
rules you can use for reality TV or even a regular casting call. Also, keep in mind, once
you get onto some of the smaller reality TV shows, the director may just decide you
should have your OWN reality TV show! And you too might be tapping into that TV
Hollywood gold mine.
